Norway becomes the first country to sell more electric vehicles than gasoline vehicles

In 2019, electric cars accounted for 54% of all new vehicle sales in Norway. Norway is the first country to sell more electric automobiles than gasoline, hybrid, or diesel engines in a single year.

By 2025, the Norwegian government intends to prohibit the sale of gasoline and diesel cars, and will use tax breaks and financial incentives to encourage the purchase of more environmentally friendly vehicles.
