HelloSafe’s Prosperity Index 2026 has placed Norway at the top of the global ranking, identifying it as the world’s richest and most prosperous country. Unlike traditional rankings that rely mainly on GDP figures, this index evaluates overall prosperity by considering a broader set of indicators, including income equality, poverty levels, Human Development Index (HDI), and Gross National Income (GNI).
Norway achieved the highest score of 77.65, securing first place due to its strong social welfare system, high standard of living, and relatively balanced wealth distribution among its population. The country was followed by Ireland and Luxembourg, both of which also performed strongly across economic and social development indicators.
The ranking emphasizes not just economic strength, but also how fairly wealth is distributed and how effectively it translates into quality of life for citizens. Countries that appear higher on the list tend to offer better healthcare, education, social protection, and lower poverty rates, reflecting a more holistic measure of prosperity rather than just financial output.
Among non-European nations, Singapore stood out as the only country to break into the top 10, highlighting its strong economic performance and high development standards. The United Arab Emirates was ranked 13th, reflecting its growing economic diversification and development progress, while the United States placed 17th, indicating strong economic output but comparatively lower performance in certain social equality and distribution metrics.
