SPAIN VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR UAE RESIDENTS

UAE nationals travelling from the UAE to Spain do not require a tourist visa if they’re visiting for 90 days. However, the 90-day entry is valid only if the UAE national:

  • Does not travel specifically for medical treatment in Spain
  • Do not intend to find employment in Spain
  • Attend a wedding or any other event

The 90-day visa-free entry is only valid for UAE passport holders who intend to visit for leisure. For any of the aforementioned reasons, a visa is required. A Schengen Visa is required for visiting Spain from the UAE for any other purposes. 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TRAVELLING FROM UAE TO SPAIN

Here’s a list of the additional documents needed to travel to Spain from the UAE:

  • Valid Passport with at least six months in expiry. 
  • Address of the hotel/hostel or any accommodation where you intend to stay for the duration of your visit.
  • The paperwork must include a detailed itinerary with information about intercity travel within Spain.
  • Visitors from the UAE must have supporting documents for the purpose of their travel.
  • Confirmed return flight to the UAE with proof of accommodation within Spain for the duration of your stay.
  • Visitors must accredit their economic means for the travel under the Order PRE/1282/2007. Visitors must provide valid paperwork to support and prove financial means to the duration of their stay in Spain.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

UAE citizens and residents of the UAE can travel to Spain and are only required to complete the Health Control Form (FCS) online or on the SPTH APP. The app is available on Google Play and the App Store. The form should include all the information about your recent travel history.  

The complete Health Control Form (FCS) must be completed prior to your intended arrival date in Spain. By signing the form, visitors commit to self-isolating at home or a place of residence during the 10 days after entry to Spain.

The quarantine/self-isolation is necessary if they have any symptoms related to COVID-19 such as fever, cough or respiratory difficulty. Passengers and visitors are required to self‑monitor coronavirus symptoms and to phone the competent health authorities.Subscribe toSUBSCRIBE

SPAIN VISA REQUIREMENTS FROM THE UAE FOR UNVACCINATED PASSENGERS 

Unvaccinated passengers must take a COVID‑19 test: 72 hours before arrival for PCR tests and 48 hours before arrival for antigen tests prior to their UAE to Spain travel.

Test results must be in English, Spanish, French or German. If the COVID-19 test is in any other language, a valid official translation must be presented as well in printed or digital format. Only the following are the accepted diagnostic tests in Spain for COVID‑19 infection:

Molecular nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT), used to detect the presence of SARS‑CoV‑2 ribonucleic acid (RNA) or(PCR/LAMP or TMA)

The antigen detection tests included in the common list of rapid tests of detection of antigen for COVID‑19, published by the European Commission based on the Council Recommendation 2021/C 24/01.

SPAIN VISA REQUIREMENTS FROM THE UAE FOR VACCINATED PASSENGERS 

Vaccinated passengers and minors aged between 12 to 17 years old must provide a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate. It’s mandatory that the COVID-19 certificates in the UAE are issued by a competent authority in the UAE or any other country of origin. People who provide a vaccination certificate and minors below the age of 12 accompany them. 

Vaccination certificates will be accepted if 14 days have passed since the last required dose of the vaccine was administered. It’s also important to note that the vaccines mentioned in the certificate must be the ones recognised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and  World Health Organization (WHO) (subject to verification by health authorities). The UAE approved COVID-19 vaccines are also accepted internationally including in Spain.

The vaccination certificate must be in English, Spanish, French or German. If it is in any other language, a valid official translation must be presented. The vaccination certificate must include:

  • Name and surname of the owner
  • Date of vaccination, indicating the date of the last dose administered
  • Type of vaccine administered
  • The number of doses administered/complete regimen
  • Issuing country
  • Identification of the issuing body of the vaccination certificate

PASSENGERS WITH RECENT COVID-19 INFECTION

Visitors travelling from the UAE to Spain who has recently contracted COVID-19 will be allowed entry into the country if they can provide a valid medical report stating that they are cured of the virus. The medical report must be in English or Spanish and it must be valid for a maximum of 180 days after the last positive test result. However, children under 12 years old are exempt from this travel condition.
