NUST included in top 100 Asian Universities

In the new rankings released by Quacquarelli Symonds, NUST was included in the top 100 universities in Asia (QS).

The rankings showed that as many as 45 Pakistani universities were included in the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings list of 634 Asian universities.

In the rankings, NUST was ranked at 76 and is the only Pakistani variety to make it to the top 100 list. A further 30 made it to Asia’s top 600.

In Asia, NUST sustained its upward trajectory, boosting its 83 rankings from last year, moving up 7 places. Over the past five years, NUST has improved 36 positions, but for the fourth consecutive year it has maintained its number one spot among Pakistani universities. This is the second time in a row that NUST has ranked in the Top 100 Asian universities as the only Pakistani university.

For 2021, the latest ranking puts NUST among the top 12 percent of Asian universities. As per the academic credibility metric, NUST also ranks among the top 100 universities.

Quaid-i-Azam University in Asia at 106, LUMS at 121, COMSATS Islamabad University at 146, Lahore University of Engineering and Technology (UET) at 175, Pakistan Institutes of Engineering and Applied Sciences at 176, and Punjab University at 178.

Similarly, 217 were put at Peshawar University, 231 at Agha Khan University, 244 at Faisalabad University of Agriculture, 281 at Karachi University and 301 at Lahore University.

In the rankings, the top ten places were dominated by Singapore, China, Hong Kong and South Korea. The top 100 list was populated by many Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, Indian and Singaporean universities.
