An office boy named Mekgh, who has been living in Abu Dhabi for the past eight years, has recently become a millionaire by purchasing a bottle of Mahzooz water just before the live draw on Saturday. Mekgh, who won AED 1 million (PKR 7.5 crore), was unable to check the results himself as he was busy with errands. However, a friend called him and shared the incredible news of his jackpot win. Initially hesitant, Mekgh confirmed the news by checking Mahzooz’s account and watching the draw video on YouTube, where he saw his name and raffle ID number.
As a Nepali expat, Mekgh joins the ranks of a few Nepali millionaires who have won the Mahzooz lottery. The first was Bharat, who won AED 10 million last year, followed by Padam, who won AED 20 million, and Surya, who won AED 1 million this year.
With his million-dirham prize, the 45-year-old father of two has plans to secure his children’s future, build a home, and start a small business in his home country. Participating in the Mahzooz draw is as simple as buying a bottle of Mahzooz water for just AED 35, which makes the buyer eligible for the weekly draw held on Saturdays. The draw offers a chance to win the top prize of AED 20 million and another prize of AED 1 million. In the latest draw, Mahzooz distributed AED 475,500 in prize money among 1,119 participants.
