Optimus Robot Will ‘Babysit Your Kids’, Elon Musk

During Tesla’s shareholder meeting in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, Elon Musk appeared particularly pleased, likely due to his recent victory in a $45 billion pay package dispute. However, the most captivating segment of Musk’s presentation was his discussion on the Optimus robot, where he laid out a series of ambitious promises.

Musk described the robot as a versatile companion that could be used at home, capable of babysitting children, teaching, and even performing various factory tasks. He likened it to having a personal robot akin to characters from the Star Wars franchise, suggesting that the Optimus robot would be a desirable addition for everyone.

Musk first introduced the concept of the Optimus robot in 2021, famously revealing it by having a person dressed in a robot costume. Since then, the robot has made notable progress, including achieving the ability to walk on two legs, a significant milestone for a concept that started as a mere idea.

Despite these advancements, Musk acknowledged that the robot still has some way to go before it can compete with other major players in the field. The public footage of Optimus demonstrates its capabilities but also highlights the areas where it still lags behind its competitors.
