Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to work on a Landmark Railway Project

Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are expected to sign a multi-billion-dollar roadmap for the planned trans-Afghanistan railway project, the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar Railway.

Construction of the proposed railway is expected to reduce the time and cost of transporting goods between the countries of South Asia and Europe via Central Asia.

The railway will increase Central Asia’s transit potential and connect it to the Pakistani seaports of Karachi, Kasem and Gwadar.

During the meeting, both parties decided to increase efforts to bring the project to fruition.

Speaking in the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to forge closer relations with Central Asia, focusing primarily on fostering trade, investment, energy and contacts between people.
