The Pakistan Airports Authority is considering a new project that would introduce modern transport facilities such as chairlifts, cable cars, and zip lines at three major airports in the country. The plan is aimed at improving passenger movement and making airport travel more convenient.
According to the proposal, these new transport systems may be installed at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, and the New Islamabad International Airport. These are among the busiest airports in Pakistan, handling a large number of domestic and international passengers every day.
The authority has already taken a step forward by issuing a tender through its commercial department. Interested companies have been invited to submit bids for designing, building, and operating the proposed facilities.
Under the plan, passengers will be able to move between airport terminals and parking areas using chairlifts, cable cars, or even zip lines. Officials say this would reduce travel time within airport premises and make passenger flow smoother, especially during peak hours.
Airport authorities believe the project could modernize the travel experience and add a unique feature to Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure. The idea combines practical transport solutions with a more innovative and user-friendly approach for travelers.
Officials also suggest that the project may help reduce congestion in busy airport areas by offering alternative transport routes. At the same time, it could improve overall efficiency in passenger handling and ground movement.
If implemented, the initiative would be one of the most unusual airport transport systems in the region, blending convenience with a modern and creative travel experience for passengers at Pakistan’s key international airports.
