Pakistan Armed Forces Pay Tribute to Kargil War Hero Karnal Sher Khan on Martyrdom Anniversary

Today marks the 24th anniversary of the martyrdom of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, a national hero known for his incredible bravery during the 1999 war. Captain Karnal Sher Khan was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, the highest military honor in Pakistan.

On this day, the Pakistan Armed Forces, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and Services Chiefs have paid their respects to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed. The ISPR, the media wing of the military, stated that his exceptional leadership and courage continue to inspire us to protect our country at any cost. Captain Karnal Sher Khan set a remarkable example of bravery, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to our homeland by sacrificing his own life.

This anniversary serves as a strong reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan during the Kargil war.Captain Karnal Sher Khan, also known as the “Lion of Kargil,” hailed from Sawabi, a province in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He served in the 27th Sindh Regiment of the Pakistan Army and is one of the ten recipients of the Nishan-e-Haider, which represents the highest military honor in our country.
