Pakistan is pushing Samsung to export smartphones made in the country to new markets, especially in Africa. The government wants to turn Pakistan into a strong technology manufacturing and export center in the region.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan met with Samsung officials and encouraged the company to use Pakistan as part of its global supply chain. He asked for more local value addition, technology transfer, and higher exports. The minister also suggested setting up certified mobile phone refurbishment centers. These centers would create new jobs and open more export opportunities.
Samsung shared some concerns during the meeting. The company talked about tax policies and the import of used phones, which affect local business. Both sides discussed ways to solve these issues and make Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing sector stronger and more competitive in the world market.
