As part of its energy conservation plan, the federal government has decided to prohibit the manufacture and sale of conventional fans starting in July of this year.
The prohibition has been advocated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and will be implemented by a Statutory Regulation Order (SRO).
According to reports, the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has the responsibility of guaranteeing that energy-efficient fans are produced that use no more than 80 watts of power.
In accordance with the government’s energy-saving initiative, the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) was also instructed to modify the national requirements for fan production.
