Pakistan is Building Three Mega Dams Simultaneously Worth Rs. 2.6 Trillion

Pakistan is currently working on three major dam projects at the same time, with a combined cost of about Rs. 2.6 trillion.

These include the Dasu Dam, Mohmand Dam, and Diamer-Bhasha Dam. All three are part of the country’s long-term plan to improve water and energy resources.

These dams are designed to increase water storage capacity, which is important for a country that faces frequent water shortages. They will also produce thousands of megawatts of electricity through hydropower. This can help reduce reliance on imported fuel and lower energy costs over time.

Another key benefit is flood control. By managing river flows more effectively, these dams can reduce the risk of severe flooding during heavy rains.

At the same time, better water storage will support agriculture by ensuring a steady supply of water for irrigation, which is vital for food production. The construction work is also creating jobs and supporting local economies in different regions.

Once completed, these projects are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security and improve overall water management, making them important for the country’s future development and sustainability.
