Pakistan Marine Academy Announces Job vacancies in Pakistan

The Government of Pakistan’s Pakistan Marine Academy (PMA) has announced admissions for the 63rd batch of Nautical (Deck) and Marine Engineering Cadets for the session 2025-2026. This opportunity invites young, unmarried male citizens of Pakistan to join the merchant navy and explore the world.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Applicants must be unmarried male citizens of Pakistan.
  • Age Limit: Applicants must be no older than 20 years as of December 31, 2024. However, candidates from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and Balochistan are given a one-year age relaxation, making the maximum age limit 21 years for these regions.
  • Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have completed F.Sc Pre-Engineering or A Level with a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, achieving at least 55% marks. O/A Level candidates need to submit an Equivalence Certificate with their application.
  • Current Students: F.Sc/A Level Part-II students with at least 60% marks in Part-I can also apply. They must provide a Hope Certificate from the head of their institution. If they fail to achieve 55% in their final F.Sc results, they will be disqualified from the selection process or discharged during training.

How to Register

Prospective candidates can download the prospectus and application form from the PMA website or obtain it from the PMA Admission Office. Completed application forms should be submitted via courier along with a pay order or bank draft of Rs. 3,500/- in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), PMA Branch Code-0239. Candidates applying under the Self Finance Scheme (SFS) must include an additional pay order or bank draft of Rs. 300,000/-. The SFS fee will be refunded if the candidate is selected on open merit or does not meet PMA eligibility criteria.

Selection Procedure

The selection process involves several steps:

  • Entrance Test: The test will be conducted in various cities, including Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad (AJK), Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur. A minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify.
  • Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical examination at designated Army/Navy hospitals.
  • Final Selection: The final selection is based on a combination of F.Sc. marks, entrance test scores, medical results, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and a final interview. PET and interview dates will be updated on the PMA website and communicated to candidates via SMS.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Standards

Candidates must meet the following PET standards:

  • Running: One mile (1.6 km) in 8 minutes
  • Push-ups: 15 repetitions in 2 minutes
  • Sit-ups: 15 repetitions in 2 minutes
  • Chin-ups: 2 repetitions in 2 minutes

Education and Training

The selected cadets will undergo two years of residential training at PMA. Upon completion, they will be awarded an Associate Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. They will also receive certificates for International Maritime Organization (IMO) recognized Pre-Sea Mandatory Courses.

Scholarships

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships, distributed as follows:

  • Balochistan: 15 scholarships
  • KPK: 6 scholarships
  • Punjab: 6 scholarships
  • Sindh: 6 scholarships

Ineligibility Criteria

Applicants will be deemed ineligible for the following reasons:

  • Submitting tampered academic certificates, mark sheets, or documents.
  • Concealment of information or providing false information.
  • Withdrawal from any academy/training institution on disciplinary grounds or poor academic performance.
  • Dismissal, removal, debarment, or resignation from government service.
  • Conviction by a court of law for any offense involving moral turpitude.
  • Non-combination of subjects and diploma holders (DAE) are not eligible.
  • Declared medically unfit by an Armed Forces hospital.
  • Candidates declared color blind.
