Pakistan May Boycott World Cup if Asia Cup Hosting Rights Lost: Najam Sethi

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has warned of a potential boycott by Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup if they lose the hosting rights for the Asia Cup.

Bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan has been affected by strained political relations, leading to matches being played only in multi-team events at neutral venues.

The Pakistan Cricket Board offered to let India play their matches in the UAE as a “hybrid model” due to safety concerns, but India is reportedly pushing for the entire tournament to be moved out of Pakistan.

This decision could have significant consequences not only for the World Cup scheduled in India this year but also for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Najam Sethi expressed concern over a potential chain reaction, with Pakistan boycotting the Asia Cup and World Cup, followed by India boycotting the Champions Trophy. Such a scenario would create a major problem for cricket.
