Pakistan Receives a Grant of Six Billion Rupees From Japan

On Saturday, Japan announced a grant of six billion rupees to the country for the development of the water treatment and distribution system in Faisalabad.

Noor Ahmed, Secretary Economic Affairs Division, and Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan, signed the exchange notes in Islamabad on Saturday, according to Radio Pakistan.

The Secretary of Economic Affairs, speaking on the occasion, stated that Pakistan values its cordial ties with Japan and that the two countries share similar positions on most regional and international issues.

Furthermore, the Japanese Ambassador confirmed that this is Japan’s single largest aid donation to Pakistan this year.

Last month, Japan agreed to contribute $3.7 million to UNHCR’s programs and initiatives in Pakistan for Afghan refugees and host communities.

Matsuda Kuninori, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan and Noriko Yoshida, UNHCR Representative, signed an agreement to this effect in Islamabad.
