Pakistan Records ‘Wettest April’ in More than 60 Years with Above Average Rainfall

Pakistan experienced its rainiest April in over six decades, according to the country’s meteorological department. The rainfall measured 59.3 millimeters, which is more than double the usual average for the month, which is 22.5 millimeters.

This heavy rainfall led to unfortunate outcomes, with at least 144 reported fatalities due to thunderstorms and house collapses. These incidents underscore the seriousness of the weather conditions.

The increased risk posed by unpredictable weather, especially with the upcoming monsoon season in July, highlights the ongoing challenges in managing natural disasters and reducing their impact on communities and infrastructure.
