During a meeting in Lahore regarding wheat purchase, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed contentment over the exceptional wheat production of 20.75 million metric tons in the country, despite the previous year’s rains and floods.
The Prime Minister instructed relevant provincial and federal departments to directly buy wheat from farmers to ensure they receive full benefits. He also emphasized the need for timely purchase of wheat and strict measures against hoarders.
The Prime Minister urged institutions to raise their wheat procurement target to guarantee uninterrupted wheat supply throughout the year, and to obtain necessary resources through banks.
Shehbaz Sharif revealed that the government is devising a strategy for the upcoming year to further elevate wheat production in the country.
