Pakistan Threatened Sri Lanka to Boycott Test Series if Asia Cup Model Opposed

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly issued a threat to withdraw from the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in June if Sri Lanka Cricket opposes the proposed hybrid model for the 2023 Asia Cup.

The hybrid model suggests splitting the Asia Cup into two phases, with the first phase hosted in Pakistan and the second phase at a neutral venue. Notably, India would only participate in the second phase and would not play in Pakistan, aiming to address political tensions between the two neighboring countries.

The PCB’s warning reflects their commitment to hosting the 2023 Asia Cup, albeit under modified circumstances. The situation highlights the need for flexibility and understanding, as hosting international cricket requires navigating geopolitical challenges while preserving the spirit of the game. The outcome and potential resolution of this matter remain uncertain at this time.
