Pakistan to Get First Bulletproof Glass Factory Worth Rs. 50 Million

Pakistan is moving toward local production of bulletproof glass with plans to establish the country’s first international-standard manufacturing facility in Karachi.

The project is being developed with support from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and is expected to involve an investment of around $50 million. The proposed facility will be located at the Bin Qasim Industrial Park.

The project was discussed during a meeting between SIFC officials and representatives of Vanguard International. The planned manufacturing unit is expected to produce bulletproof glass locally for the Pakistan Army and other security-related institutions.

At present, reliance on imported security products can place pressure on foreign exchange reserves and increase procurement costs. Local manufacturing of bulletproof glass could help reduce that dependence while developing domestic industrial capabilities.

The facility is also expected to support technology transfer by introducing advanced manufacturing expertise and production techniques to Pakistan. This could create opportunities for local workers and businesses to become part of a specialised industrial supply chain.

According to the project details, the facility could generate employment for around 400 skilled workers. The investment is therefore expected to contribute not only to the security sector but also to industrial development and job creation.

The planned plant represents an effort to expand Pakistan’s domestic manufacturing capacity in a specialised field. Producing such materials locally could help institutions access security products more efficiently while retaining more economic value within the country.

With Karachi serving as a major industrial and commercial centre, the Bin Qasim Industrial Park is expected to provide a suitable location for the project.

If completed as planned, the facility could become an important addition to Pakistan’s industrial sector, supporting local production, reducing import dependence and strengthening the country’s capabilities in specialised security manufacturing.
