Pakistan has announced the provision of 500 scholarships for students from Bangladesh over the next five years as part of the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative. The program is designed to strengthen academic cooperation, promote educational exchange, and enhance people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the initiative was originally introduced by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during his official visit to Bangladesh in 2025. The scholarship program aims to provide Bangladeshi students with opportunities to pursue higher education in Pakistan in various academic disciplines, helping to build stronger institutional linkages and long-term collaboration in the education sector.
Officials further confirmed that the second phase of the initiative has recently been launched in Dhaka, marking another step forward in the implementation of the agreement. At the same time, a high-level Bangladeshi delegation is currently visiting Pakistan under the same framework to explore additional avenues of cooperation in education, research, and capacity building.
Government representatives stated that the program reflects improving diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh and highlights a shared commitment to expanding academic partnerships. The initiative is also expected to encourage cultural understanding, youth engagement, and regional collaboration in South Asia.
Policy experts believe that such scholarship programs can play a significant role in strengthening bilateral ties while also contributing to human resource development in both countries. By facilitating student mobility and academic exchange, the Knowledge Corridor initiative is seen as a long-term investment in educational diplomacy and regional connectivity.
