Pakistan Witnesses 74% Decline in Mobile Imports in 10 Months of FY23

During the first ten months of the fiscal year 2022-23 in Pakistan (July-April), the import of mobile phones amounted to $473.287 million. This shows a significant decline of 73.84% compared to the previous year, where imports reached $1.809 billion during the same period.

In April 2023, there was a decrease of 28.69% in mobile phone imports compared to March 2023. In April, the imports were valued at $10.587 million, while in March, they were $14.846 million. On a year-on-year basis, mobile phone imports in April 2023 declined by 95.03% compared to April 2022 when imports were valued at $212.881 million.

The overall imports of telecom equipment in Pakistan from July to April in FY23 were $779.413 million. This represents a negative growth of 67.71% compared to the imports of $2.413 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Looking at year-on-year analysis, the overall imports of telecom equipment in April 2023 declined significantly by 87.53% to $34.504 million, compared to $276.652 million in April 2022. On a month-on-month basis, telecom equipment imports decreased by 4.52% in April 2023 compared to March 2023, where imports were $36.112 million.

Imports of other apparatus during July-April FY23 amounted to $306.126 million, showing a negative growth of 49.36% compared to the imports of $604.549 million during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

On a year-on-year basis, imports of other apparatus in April 2023 were $23.917 million, representing a negative growth of 62.50% compared to April 2022 when imports were $63.772 million. However, on a month-on-month basis, imports of other apparatus showed a growth of 12.47% in April 2023, reaching $23.917 million compared to $21.266 million in March 2023.
