Pakistan’s Auto Sales Dropped by 73%, Worst in 3 Years

As overall sales of automobiles, vans, pickup trucks, and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) dropped 73% year over year in February to 5,762 units, the lowest monthly sales number since May 2020 (4,500 units), ominous clouds continued to hang over the auto industry.

Overall sales decreased by 44% to 100,057 units during the first eight months of the fiscal year from 178,250 during the same time in FY22.

Hyundai Nishat’s Tucson did remarkably better in this dismal vehicle sales environment, selling 708 units in February as opposed to 620 units the month prior. From 2,230 units in 8MFY22 to 3,558 units in 8MFY23, Tucson sales increased by 60%.
