Pakistan’s Business Confidence Index Drops by 21% in 6 Months Due to Political Instability

Pakistan’s business confidence score has plunged by 21 percent in six months, according to the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI).

Major foreign businesses operating across diversified sectors in the country have lost confidence in Pakistan’s economy. The overall Business Confidence Score (BCS) dropped 21 percentage points to negative 4% in the past six months.

The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) serves as the national point of reference for foreign investors in Pakistan.

Conducted across Pakistan in September and October this year, the Wave-22 survey said the country’s overall business confidence score (BCS) dropped to -4 percent from the previous score of 17 percent recorded in Wave-21 held in March-April.

The highest drop in confidence was recorded in the services sector at 24 percent, retail & wholesale trade at 22 percent, and the manufacturing sector at 20 percent.
