According to a tweet by Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Sunday, Pakistan’s exports have exceeded $2 billion for seven consecutive months (October-April) of FY21.
Dawood announced on Twitter that Pakistan’s exports for April 2021 totaled $2.191 billion.
“This is the first time our monthly exports have exceeded $2 billion for seven consecutive months since 2011.”
He reported that commodities sent abroad increased by 129% in April 2020, but that the month could not be considered due to the lockdown last year.
He also stated that exports increased by 13% to $20.879 billion in July-April 2021, compared to $18.408 billion in the same period last year.
While Covid-19 is expected to have an effect on Pakistan’s exports this fiscal year, the International Trade Centre’s latest export potential assessment for Pakistan predicts a $12 billion increase in exports by 2024.
