Pakistan’s High Ranking in Global Cybersecurity Index Good News for IT Industry: IT Minister

State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, proudly announced that Pakistan has been included in Tier 1 of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Global Cybersecurity Index for 2024.

This is a significant achievement, as only 46 countries in the world are part of this top tier. The ranking highlights Pakistan’s remarkable improvements in areas such as legal frameworks, technical measures, and organizational capabilities related to cybersecurity.

Just a few years ago, Pakistan was ranked 79th on the Global Cybersecurity Index, making this leap to Tier 1 a major accomplishment. Pakistan now joins the ranks of leading cybersecurity nations like the United States, Japan, and Australia.

Khawaja expressed her appreciation for the hard work of various organizations, particularly the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which played a vital role in achieving this success.

This recognition demonstrates Pakistan’s progress in strengthening its cybersecurity systems and highlights the country’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding its digital infrastructure.

The improvement in the global ranking is a reflection of the collective efforts made by government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders. As Pakistan continues to enhance its cybersecurity framework, this milestone further positions the country as a leader in the digital space.
