“Traders Must Play a Greater Role in Expanding Tax Base,” PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that if inflation continues to decrease, the government plans to reduce the financial strain on salaried workers. Speaking at a meeting with young members of the PML-N party, he highlighted the importance of fair taxation across all sectors of the economy, saying it’s unfair for one group to bear the majority of the tax burden.

Sharif specifically called on traders to play a bigger role in increasing the tax base, urging them to contribute more to national revenues. He made it clear that no single sector should be overburdened, and that everyone must do their part to support the country’s financial system.

Additionally, Sharif revealed that Pakistan’s ongoing issues with international loans will be discussed in an upcoming meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on September 25. He expressed optimism about recent improvements in the economy, mentioning positive trends such as lower inflation, higher remittances, and growth in exports.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to thank Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and China for their vital support in helping Pakistan secure the IMF deal, which has been essential for stabilizing the country’s economy.

Sharif remains hopeful that these positive changes will continue and that, with the cooperation of all sectors, the country can move toward better financial health.
