PCB Reveals Reason for Removing Shaheen Afridi as Pakistan’s T20 Captain

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has explained why they chose to change Shaheen Afridi as the captain of the Pakistan Men’s national Cricket team in T20Is. Now, Babar Azam is the new captain for white-ball matches, taking over from Shaheen Shah Afridi.

In a statement released on Sunday, the PCB said they made this decision to make sure players don’t get too tired and can keep playing well. They want to give players enough rest, especially those like Shaheen Afridi who play a lot. This way, they hope players can have long careers without getting hurt.

Even though Shaheen Afridi has been a great fast bowler and led Pakistan’s bowling team for a while, the PCB thinks it’s important to give him some rest sometimes. They want to protect players like Shaheen Afridi so they can keep playing well for a long time. This decision is meant to keep players healthy, especially because some important matches are coming up.

The PCB talked about how they’ve had problems with players getting hurt before big tournaments, like the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. In those tournaments, players like Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah couldn’t play because they were hurt.

By choosing Babar Azam as the new captain, the PCB hopes to keep Pakistan’s main bowlers healthy and ready to play well when they’re needed. This is all part of the PCB’s plan to make sure Pakistan’s cricket team stays strong and competitive.
