Peshawar needs 11,000 manhole covers, Kundi says as he invites Karachi’s Fixit
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi invited Karachi’s Fixit activists to install manhole covers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying Peshawar alone needs 11,000.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has invited Karachi’s Fixit activists to help install manhole covers in the province, saying 11,000 covers are needed in Peshawar city alone.
In remarks reported on November 6, 2026, Kundi spoke to the media while visiting the Jamil Chowk underpass, which is under construction on Peshawar’s Ring Road. He said different sectors across the province faced their own issues.
Pointing to the need for manhole covers in the provincial capital, the governor appealed directly to Fixit activists in Karachi to come to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and carry out the installation work.
Kundi also called for restaurants to be developed in the province, saying they would help promote tourism. He asked for time to pursue that work and said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would then be able to compete with Punjab.
The governor said discussions would be held with the government and banks, adding that there were many areas in which work needed to be done. He also raised the issue of encroachments and called for their removal wherever they existed.
Kundi said encroachments would be removed regardless of who was responsible for them, stressing that government land should remain free of such occupation. He appealed for existing encroachments to be cleared.
Turning to the role of businesses, Kundi said the province needed the business community’s cooperation and assistance. He said development work would have to be pursued together with the business community.
