Peshawar Police Launches Anti Mobile Theft App

Peshawar police introduced an application in order to help incidents of mobile theft in the city.

Initially application is available for android users will verify the mechanism for IMEI numbers. Users would be able to find and search a number while buying a cell phone and the app will help to verify either the cell is sold legally or is stolen.

The app have all the IMEI number of every stolen cellphone within the jurisdiction of the 34 police stations in the city.

CCPO Peshawar Aijaz Khan said, “when a stolen phone’s IMEI will be entered into the app, it will not only alert buyers to the theft but will also intimate the police about the phone’s presence. Police officials have asked mobile sellers to install the app on their phones to make it fully effective.”

The application is introduced after an increase in crime in the capital, especially of cellphone theft.

Other than this, the spike in mobile theft also attributed to raise in rates of cellular phones because of higher exchange rate and increased taxes.
