Petroleum Prices Will Be Increased by Rs. 4 per litre Each Month: Shaukat Tarin

Shaukat Tarin, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Revenue, stated the petroleum development levy should be hiked by Rs4 per litre every month, with the government aiming to raise it to Rs30.

The PM’s assistant said that Pakistan had previously agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to raise the price of energy at a press conference after getting confirmation from the IMF regarding the staff-level agreement.

“Withdrawing from the initiative after receiving $500 million from the Fund was thus an uphill task,” he continued.

He was flanked by Federal Minister of Energy Hammad Azhar at the press briefing.
