The moon sculpture is among the rare, priceless, and historical items housed in Karachi’s National Museum of Pakistan.
Pakistan has the distinction of raising its flag on the moon, a piece of which is displayed at our museum. The flags of America’s allies were flown on the moon by the American Apollo mission to the moon in 1969, and the mission also took a piece of the moon back with it.
The Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto received a chunk of the moon in 1973 from then-US President Richard Nixon, together with the national flag flown over the moon, which is now on display at the National Museum of Pakistan in Karachi.
