Pillion Riding to be Banned in Karachi, Other Sindh Cities

The government of Sindh, a province in Pakistan, has decided to ban riding on the back of motorcycles (pillion riding) as a security measure for the observance of Rabiul Awal 12.

In an official announcement from the home department, they specified that this ban on pillion riding will be in effect in all cities on both the 11th and 12th days of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

However, there are exceptions to this ban. It will not apply to women, children under 12 years of age, elderly citizens, uniformed personnel from law enforcement and security agencies, essential service employees, and journalists, provided they can show their press or service identification cards.

The government has also declared a public holiday on September 29th, which is Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal).
