The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide advisory ahead of the upcoming pre-monsoon weather system, warning that several regions of Pakistan could experience heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions over the coming days.
The authority has cautioned that intense downpours may lead to flash floods, urban flooding in low-lying areas, landslides in mountainous regions, and strong windstorms capable of causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting daily life.
Provincial governments, district administrations, and emergency response agencies have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure that rescue teams, machinery, and relief resources are ready to respond if required.
The NDMA has also urged the public to closely monitor official weather forecasts and advisories, particularly those living near rivers, streams, nullahs, and hilly areas that are more vulnerable to flooding and landslides.
Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, secure loose outdoor objects that could become hazardous in strong winds, and exercise extra caution while driving on slippery roads.
Citizens are also encouraged to follow safety instructions issued by local authorities and emergency services. Officials emphasize that early preparedness, public awareness, and timely precautionary measures can significantly reduce the risks associated with the approaching pre-monsoon spell and help protect lives and property.
