Planning Tawaf? Saudi A Arabia Launches QR Tool for Live Crowd Tracking at Masjid al-Haram

Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital crowd-monitoring service at the Grand Mosque in Makkah to enhance the pilgrimage experience by helping pilgrims and worshippers perform Tawaf and Sa’i more smoothly and efficiently.

The initiative is part of the Kingdom’s broader efforts to use smart technology to improve crowd management and ensure the safety and comfort of millions of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques

The service can be accessed by scanning a QR code, giving worshippers instant access to real-time crowd density updates in the Mataf, where pilgrims perform Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba, and the Masa’a, the pathway used for Sa’i between Safa and Marwah.

By monitoring live crowd conditions, visitors can plan their movements and choose less congested areas, making it easier to complete their rituals with greater convenience.

In addition to displaying live crowd information, the platform provides smart guidance and navigation to improve the flow of pilgrims throughout the Grand Mosque.

The system is designed to reduce congestion, support efficient movement, and strengthen safety measures, particularly during peak periods when millions of worshippers gather in Makkah.

Saudi officials said the initiative reflects the Kingdom’s continued investment in digital transformation and advanced technologies to enhance services at the Two Holy Mosques.

By integrating real-time data with smart crowd-management solutions, the new platform aims to provide a safer, more organized, and seamless pilgrimage experience while helping worshippers perform their religious rituals with greater ease and peace of mind.
