“Players will be allowed to make choice between IPL, Pakistan tour”, NCZ’s CEO

New Zealand Cricket (NZC)’s CEO David White said players will be allowed to make a choice between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan tour. In his recent statement, White said a full-strength side is on cards to travel to Pakistan so far in a split tour.

“As of our understanding, our full-strength side will go to Pakistan. I haven’t talked to players and their association further in this regard,” he said. “But, players will be allowed to play in IPL. They will be free to make a choice between IPL and Pakistan tour,” he shared.

New Zealand will tour Pakistan in two phases. In the first phase, black caps will play two Tests, one in Multan and other in Karachi, and three ODIs in Karachi in December 2022 and January 2023. The Kiwis will return to Pakistan in April next year to play five T20Is and as many ODIs. Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi will jointly host the white-ball tour. During this time, IPL 2023 will be happening in India. Speaking further about the tour, White said they are in contact with their government.

“Our delegation visited Pakistan earlier this year. We are in contact with the embassy and our government about this tour,” he shared. “I am really looking forward to an exciting tour,” he concluded.
