In an effort to reduce spending in the face of extreme economic hardship, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled a number of austerity measures on Wednesday. The majority of these measures were directed at his cabinet.
Following a meeting, he announced that no salaries or perks will be paid to any ministers, special assistants, or advisers in a press conference with other cabinet members.
He stated that they will pay their power bills “out of their own pockets”.
“All expensive vehicles driven by Cabinet members will be put up for sale, and only one vehicle will be provided when security is needed,” he stated. Also, they will take local and international flights in economy class.
