Polar Bear Sleeping on Iceberg Wins Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award

A stunning photograph capturing a young polar bear peacefully resting on an iceberg has clinched the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award in the UK.

The picture was snapped by Nima Sarikhani, an amateur photographer from Britain, in the Arctic’s Svalbard archipelago. This region, greatly affected by global warming, serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges our planet faces due to climate change.

The photograph was chosen by the public from a selection of 25 finalists. Dr. Douglas Gurr, the director of the Natural History Museum, praised the image for its powerful portrayal of climate change and the loss of natural habitats. It beautifully showcases the fragility of our planet and serves as a call to action to protect our environment.

The winning images, including four other popular finalists, will be on display online and at the Natural History Museum in London until June 30, 2024. This exhibition provides an opportunity for people to appreciate the beauty of wildlife while also raising awareness about the urgent need for conservation efforts.
