Islamabad police have detained three women after a newborn baby was allegedly taken from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The baby was recovered safely following a prompt response by police.
According to an official account cited by the Associated Press of Pakistan, the incident was reported late Tuesday night, September 15. A team from Karachi Company Police Station acted after receiving information that the newborn had allegedly been taken from the hospital. The child was later recovered, while three women were taken into custody for questioning.
Initial police findings suggest the women approached the baby’s mother and gained access to the newborn by showing affection and offering care. They allegedly took the child away afterward. Hospital security staff reportedly noticed suspicious activity and alerted authorities.
The three suspects are said to be residents of Qila Gujjar Singh in Lahore. Two of the women are reportedly sisters, and the third is believed to be one of their daughters. Police are investigating how they entered the hospital and what their motive was.
