The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority has started a strict action campaign against private schools in Islamabad that are operating without official registration or approval.
Officials said a large number of unregistered schools are under review, and those found violating rules may face sealing of their buildings and legal proceedings. The authority has warned that there will be no compromise on issues that affect students’ education, safety, and well-being.
According to the authority, the purpose of this crackdown is to ensure that all private educational institutions follow proper regulations and maintain standard education practices. Schools that do not meet legal requirements will not be allowed to continue operations.
Authorities also introduced clear rules regarding school fee collection. Under the new guidelines, private schools are only allowed to collect one month’s fee in advance from students. Charging fees for more than a 12-month academic period has been declared illegal.
Officials further stated that strict action will be taken against schools involved in unfair or excessive fee collection. This includes institutions that pressure parents for advance payments or ignore official fee structures.
The regulatory body said these measures are aimed at protecting parents from financial burden and ensuring transparency in the private education system. It also stressed that students should not face disruption in their studies due to illegal practices by school administrations.
Education officials added that monitoring teams have been deployed to inspect schools and identify violations. Complaints from parents will also be investigated quickly, and immediate action will be taken where necessary.
The authority reiterated that its goal is to improve the quality and fairness of private education in Islamabad while ensuring that all institutions operate within the law and provide a safe, regulated learning environment for students.
