Promise Delivered! Maryam Nawaz Delivered Modern Electric Buses in Azad Jammu & Kashmir

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has fulfilled her promise by sending 10 modern electric buses to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The buses arrived in Muzaffarabad, the capital of AJK, and started service soon after reaching the city.

The fleet was sent from Murree on the chief minister’s instructions. Trained drivers and technical staff also travelled with the buses to make sure the service runs smoothly. Maryam Nawaz described the buses as “a gift from the people of Punjab to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.”

These electric buses offer clean, comfortable and affordable public transport. They help reduce fuel use and lower carbon emissions. In Punjab, similar buses already serve millions of passengers, and many routes provide free travel for women, students and senior citizens. The same benefits are now expected for people in AJK.

The buses form part of a larger support package that also includes mobile clinics, scholarships and laptops for students. Officials say the new service will make daily travel easier, support local economic activity and give residents a modern transport experience.

This step shows Punjab’s effort to share its successful green transport model beyond its borders.
