Punjab Govt Approves Rs1 Billion Cash Relief Under “Maryam Ko Batayein” Program

The Punjab government has introduced a new public relief program called “Maryam Ko Batain” aimed at providing immediate financial support to low-income and deserving families during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative has been launched under the supervision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as part of broader efforts to assist citizens struggling with rising household expenses and inflation.

According to officials, eligible families will be able to receive financial assistance of up to Rs. 10,000 through a fast-track system designed to ensure timely support during Ramadan. A special helpline, 1000, will become operational from the first day of Ramadan, allowing citizens facing financial difficulties to directly contact authorities and apply for assistance.

The government has also introduced digital registration facilities to make the process easier and more accessible. Applicants can submit their details through an official web portal or mobile application by entering their CNIC information. Individuals already registered under the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) are expected to receive the financial aid within 24 hours after verification, while newly applying families may receive assistance within approximately four days once their information is reviewed and confirmed.

Officials say the purpose of the initiative is to ensure that financially vulnerable households are able to manage essential expenses during Ramadan, including food, utility bills, and other daily necessities. The program is being presented as part of the Punjab government’s wider welfare strategy focused on providing direct and rapid relief to citizens in need.
