Punjab Govt Imposes Section 144 Around Airports, PAF Bases for 30 Days

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 for 30 days around all major airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases in the province to ensure aviation safety. The notification has been issued by Home Department Punjab on 19th May.

Under this order, several activities have been strictly banned within a 13-kilometre radius of airports and airbases. These include pigeon homing (kabootar baazi), use of laser lights by commercial establishments, and throwing meat (sadqa) on rooftops or open areas.

According to the notification, these activities attract large numbers of birds, which can pose a serious threat to aircraft during takeoff and landing. Bird strikes can cause severe damage to planes and endanger the lives of passengers and crew.

The ban has been imposed to prevent any untoward incident and to maintain smooth air traffic operations. The restrictions will remain in place for the next 30 days and may be extended if necessary. Authorities have warned that violators will face legal actions.

This step reflects the Punjab government’s focus on improving safety standards at important aviation facilities across the province.
