Punjab Govt to Distribute 10,000 E-Bikes Among Students at Minimum Markup

The Punjab government’s recent announcement to distribute 10,000 electric bikes among students in the provincial capital is a commendable effort to address environmental concerns. This initiative aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transportation while encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. By partnering with the Bank of Punjab, the government has facilitated a financing scheme for students, allowing them to acquire electric bikes through convenient installments with a minimal six percent interest rate over a two-year period.

The key meeting at the P&D Board, led by Provincial Minister Bilal Afzal, showcased a collaborative approach to decision-making. Attendees, including Chairman Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial, reviewed proposals and received a comprehensive briefing from the transport department. This briefing covered the eligibility criteria for students to benefit from electric bikes, emphasizing reputable manufacturers like Honda.

By combining environmental consciousness, financial accessibility, and collaboration between government and financial institutions, this initiative holds promise in fostering a greener and more sustainable future while addressing the transportation needs of students in the province.
