Punjab Govt to fund microchip design centres at 8 universities.

The Punjab government has granted PKR 41.75 million in funding to establish micro and nano electronic chip design facilities at eight universities across the province.

UET Lahore, UET Taxila, ITU Lahore, and Islamia University Bahawalpur are among the eight universities where these centres would be built in the current fiscal year. In the coming year, the MNS UET Multan, the KF UEIT Rahim Yar Khan, the University of Gujrat, and the University of Chakwal will receive the centres.

Because of a shortage of highly qualified professors and academic resources in these disciplines, the provincial government has taken this move in light of the fact that local universities in Pakistan do not extensively teach skills such as micro and nano electronics IC design.
