Punjab to be transformed into an investment magnet with creation of 13 special economic zones

According to province Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal, the government is developing Punjab into a hub for investment, trade, and economic activities.

The minister stated that local and global companies were investing in Punjab because of a favorable economic environment, speaking at the 35th Annual General Meeting of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA).

In the last three years, the government has developed 23 small industrial estates in Punjab, he said, adding that 13 Special Economic Zones are also being established in the province.

He stated, “Growing investment in the country is an indication of trust in the prime minister’s economic policy.” The minister assured businessmen that the Punjab Board of Investment would assist investors and promote investment, describing the new industrial zones as a positive sign for development.

“The Punjab government is committed to helping industries and investors in order to improve economic activities and increase employment opportunities,” he said, citing the prime minister’s objective.

“The government thinks that the only way to achieve economic revolution is through trade promotion, and it is providing all conceivable support to the export industry in order to achieve maximum growth,” the minister continued. He referred to the textile industry as the “backbone” of the economy and promised to take steps to improve it.
