The government of Pakistan has recently decided to revive the local governments of Punjab right after Eid according to the decisions of courts of Pakistan. According to the sources, a meeting will be held on 23rd July for the committee that is formed for this specific task.
However, the official meeting will be attended by the assistant director, local government secretary, secretaries of union councils along with the assistant commissioners who have their involvement in governmental decisions.
Moreover, the Supreme Court had ordered regarding restoration of the local governments of Punjab in March, 2021 that were dissolved by the provincial government of PTI in 2019.
The members of the meeting are expected to finalize the plan in order to revive the local bodies of Punjab; however, the plan will be directly submitted it to the government of Pakistan. For the revival of Rawalpindi Tehsil Council, another meeting is expected to take place where the timeframe will be set in order to perform work and finalizing the decisions.
