Qatar Donates World Cup Cabins to Quake-Hit Turkey and Syria

According to officials, Qatar planned to deploy 10,000 cabins and caravans from the 2018 World Cup to Turkey to house earthquake survivors.


The gas-rich Gulf nation claims that donating mobile homes was always the goal. They were required to assist with housing some of the 1.4 million soccer fans that flocked to the little nation during the largest event.


The Qatar Fund for Development reported that the first shipment of 350 structures was sent out on Sunday.


More than 35,000 people were murdered on February 6 by earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 that occurred nine hours apart in war-torn northern Syria and southeast Turkey. When search and rescue personnel uncover more victims, the death toll is anticipated to rise even further.
