‘Quaid’s Portrait’ to Be Inaugurated by CDA on March 23

On March 23, a portrait of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah will be unveiled along the Islamabad Expressway.

During Gen Pervez Musharraf’s tenure, a portrait of Mr Jinnah, designed by Jamal Shah, was erected along the Expressway near Koral in 2005.

However, heavy rain caused it to collapse in August of last year. Before beginning this Rs59 million project, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) installed a temporary portrait on the Quaid’s death anniversary in September and birthday in December.

Mr Shah is also designing a new portrait that is 60 feet long and 50 feet wide. It is also being surrounded by a safety wall. Within three months, the project will be finalized.

This new portrait would be able to withstand the harsh elements. The new portrait’s length and width will be 50 and 60 feet, respectively. In writing Unity, new features have been added.
