Rawalpindi to get seven women-only Pink Bazaars, with first site nearly ready
One Pink Bazaar is planned for each of Rawalpindi district’s seven tehsils under directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The first, on Liaquat Road, will let women vendors sell everyday goods.

Rawalpindi’s district administration is setting up seven women-only Pink Bazaars to give women dedicated places to trade and earn a living, with the first market on Liaquat Road nearing completion.
Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir said the project follows directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The initial phase will provide one market in each of the district’s seven tehsils, followed by an expansion in the next phase.
Women vendors at the Liaquat Road bazaar will sell goods for everyday use. Nasir said the Rawalpindi city market was almost ready, while construction of the other bazaars was continuing.
The initiative is intended to serve women as both traders and customers. Alongside opportunities to earn a livelihood, the bazaars are meant to offer safe shopping spaces reserved for women, away from crowded markets.
Nasir also instructed assistant commissioners to make regular visits to the project sites and check progress. Their monitoring responsibilities cover both the Pink Bazaars and street-vendor markets, commonly called rehri bazaars.
He told officials to ensure the projects were completed on time and stressed that their work should translate into visible progress at the sites. It could not be independently confirmed when or where Nasir made the remarks.
