Rawalpindi’s Kutchery Chowk Officially Renamed as ‘Marka-e-Haq Square’

Rawalpindi’s famous Kutchery Chowk has been officially renamed Marka-e-Haq Square. The renaming was announced by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and local administration to honour Pakistan’s victory in the recent conflict with India, known as Marka-e-Haq.

A major beautification and infrastructure project at the square has been completed. The area now features improved roads, new pavements, green belts, modern lighting, and a grand monument. Strict security arrangements were made for the official inauguration ceremony.

The new name “Marka-e-Haq” symbolises the bravery and successful defence of Pakistan’s armed forces, particularly the Pakistan Air Force, during last year’s conflict. Officials say the renaming will keep the spirit of national pride and the sacrifices of martyrs alive in public memory.

Kutchery Chowk is one of the busiest and most important landmarks in Rawalpindi. The change is expected to attract visitors and serve as a symbol of national unity and strength. Many citizens have welcomed the decision, calling it a fitting tribute to the armed forces.

The renovated square is now open to the public. This development is part of broader efforts to modernise Rawalpindi and honour important national events.
